Kick waxes and klister are composed of highly water-resistant, inert, and tough materials that remain stable over time. This means that they are also difficult to remove from the ski base. Solvents are necessary for thorough base cleaning, like our Base Cleaner and Citrus Solvent.

Proper cleaning is essential for better performance of glide waxes. For cleaning the glide section of your skis, our i94 Pro Cleaner and i84 Base Wax Cleaner are the best choices.

How to remove kick wax and klisters

1. Remove as much as possible using a scraper (T0087 or T0086).

2. Put on a pair of nitrile gloves according to the EN374 std.

3. Apply a wax remover (I64C) on fiberlene paper (T0150) and clean the existing wax. Don’t forget the sides and the tops of the skis.

4. Wipe again with a clean fiberlene peper. Let the ski dry for 5-10 minutes.

Glide zone cleaning

Cleaning of glide section

The gliding section on your skis is in front and back of the grip area or skin zone. Skate skis have a full gliding base.

1. Brush gently in a tip-to-tail direction with a fine steel brush (T0191B) followed by a steel brush (T0179).

2. Put on nitrile gloves.

3. Moisten a piece of Fiberlene (T0150) with a Glide Wax Cleaner and apply it to the glide zone of the base.

3. Rub forward and backward a few times with a Fine steel brush (T0191B) .

4. Wipe off as much as possible with Fiberlene (T0150). Let the ski dry for 5-10 minutes.

5. Brush firmly with the Steel Brush (T0179) or Bronze Brush (T0162) in a tip-to-tail direction.

6. The ski is now ready for application of new glide wax. Apply wax of the day or protection glider.
