Andrew Musgrave: From Scotland to the world stage

Andrew Musgrave: From Scotland to the world stage

Born and raised in northeast Scotland, he didn’t grow up with the same skiing conditions as most elite athletes. But thanks to a small local ski club, Huntly Nordic Ski Club, he was introduced to the sport that would shape his life.

“I started skiing just to meet other kids and do something social,” Musgrave recalls. “We were a competitive group, and every training session turned into a race. One of us got good, then the rest of us had to get good—it just kept driving us forward.”

British name in cross-country skiing

Competing at the highest level, Musgrave has put British skiing on the map. But back home, cross-country skiing remains a mystery to most people.

“When I tell people I’m a skier, they ask why I don’t just take the lifts,” he laughs. “Most Brits only notice us every four years when the Olympics come around. But when competing among the best and having a chance at medals, we get some decent attention.”

Eyes on the 50K in Trondheim

As the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim approach, Musgrave has one goal: the 50K.

“Winning the 50K is every cross-country skier’s dream,” he says. “I’ve finished fourth at a World Championship before, and now I must beat that.”

Proud to Race with Swix

A longtime Swix athlete, Musgrave trusts his Swix Triac poles to deliver top performance in the most demanding races.

“Swix has been part of my journey, and I’m proud to be a Swix athlete,” he says.

Andrew Musgrave’s road to the top has been anything but ordinary. Now, all eyes are on Trondheim, where he hopes to write the next chapter of his remarkable career.
