Swix’s new World Championship klister is here
Most skiers are familiar with Swix’s universal klister, but did you know it was originally developed for the Oslo World Championships in 1982? Since then, it’s been a staple in the market and has contributed to countless Olympic and World Championship victories. For the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim, Swix is introducing a new World Championship klister to the market.
High Demand at the elite level
“KX55, also known as the Trondheim World Championship klister, was already used during the 2023 World Championships in Planica. At that time, it was only a test product, but it became so popular that we ran out halfway through the championship,” says Swix wax waxer, Morten Sætha.
Swix had to produce more klister at Lillehammer and transport it to Planica to meet the demand. The new product quickly became a favorite among wax technicians worldwide.

What Makes KX55 Special?
“KX55 handles colder and finer snow better than other universal klisters. This means you can ski longer on drier snow without clumping or icing as quickly,” explains the technician.

Completing the Klister Line
The new klister doesn’t replace the old one. The 1982 World Championship klister, also known as K22 Universal Klister, is softer than the newcomer, making it ideal for wetter snow conditions. Together with the rest of Swix’s klister lineup, the products complement each other across different temperatures and snow types.
Over the past year, the new World Championship klister has become one of Swix’s most-used products in the World Cup and showed excellent results in the Granåsen World Championship tracks. Now, the klister is available to everyone through Swix stores and retailers.
The 2025 Ski World Championships begin on February 26th. Swix is the official supplier of ski wax and apparel for the championship.
