Chapter 6: Ski waxing code of conduct

When waxing your skis, please ensure that you take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety.
  • Use fluoro-free products only.
  • Have good ventilation in the wax cabin. The wax cabin should have a fan that sucks the air out, as well as an entrance where fresh air enters. In this way, you ensure circulation in the air.
  • Always wear a mask when using an iron, scraping wax, or applying a liquid glider. The mask must have the recommended filter (minimum A1P3). Keep the mask tightly closed and change the filter at least before each season. Follow the manufacturer's recommendation for cleaning.
  • Make sure your mask is adjusted correctly, and, as a minimum, replace the filter at the start of each season. Always follow the manufacturer’s cleaning recommendations.
  • For technicians waxing often, we recommend changing the filters 2 times per season and professional waxers should change filters every month for optimal protection.
  • Avoid small particulates. When using a roto brush, we recommend using one with a built-in suction. This removes almost all airborne dust. Connects directly to the vacuum cleaner.
  • Regularly cleaning your waxing facility is important to prevent the build-up of dust particles in the room.
  • Wear suitable gloves when handling base cleaner and other liquid products. To minimize the direct contact between the skin and solvent when cleaning skis, we recommend using a nitrile glove after regulation EN374.
  • Do not heat the waxing iron to a temperature higher than necessary, and wipe the iron clean after application. The particle concentration rises as the difference between the melting point and waxing iron temperature increases.
  • Smoking is prohibited in the waxing facility. Smoking and airborne particles are an extremely hazardous mix.
  • Do not eat or drink in the waxing facility.
  • Collect any waxing residue and dispose of it in the appropriate container.
  • Wash your hands once you have finished waxing the skis.
